Sports for all - or?
How do we break financial barriers in sports? For many athletes, young and old, the cost of sports is one of the toughest hurdles.
Top performers in minor sports are often forced to risk their personal finances to compete at an elite level. Meanwhile, some children and youths are opting out of sports altogether because their families cannot afford the associated costs.
In a seminar hosted by the Swedish Olympic Committee and the Swedish Embassy of France, we looked at the big picture. We explored pragmatic solutions to the pressing question: How can we make sports an inclusive activity for everyone, regardless of their economic background?
In the panel: Fritidsbankens Head of Operations, David Mathiasson, Three-time Olympian Linnea Torstensson, Bernard Lama from Senegal Diambars, Director of Communications and Sustainability at Svenska Spel, Frank Hojem and from ICA, Niclas Stenberg.
Opening and closing remarks: Hans von Uthmann, Chairman of the board, the Swedish Olympic Committee, and Håkan Åkesson the Swedish Ambassador of France.
Moderator: Tobias Hauff, Sales Director, Swedish Olympic Committee
